AhnLab to Protect European Online Banking Market from ZeuS Trojan with `AhnLab Online Security`

  • AOS Blocks Hacking Threats Including ZeuS, to Online Banking and
    e-Commerce Sites

  • Global Web Standard-Compliance: Compatible with Multiple Web Browsers

SEOUL, South Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--AhnLab Inc. (CEO Hong-sun Kim, www.ahnlab.com)(KOSDAQ:053800), a leading provider of integrated security solutions, today announced that the
company will target the European banking security market with its 'AhnLab Online Security' (http://aos.ahnlab.com, AOS), full-functioned and cost-effective END POINT Security Service which ensures safe
banking transactions by protecting personal information on online banking sites.

"AOS enables both e-commerce providers and users to retain safe online banking by providing specialized features and the expertise as a security provider for 15 years"

Approximately 30~40% of Europeans are using online banking services, according to a recent study (RSA 2010 Global Online Consumer Security Survey), and more than 80% of Europeans have expressed concerns over online banking security. Although many banks are using OTP authentication for security, there have been increased incidents in Europe related to online banking security which have resulted in losses of £21.4 million over a six month period in 2008.

In a recent case, the ZeuS Trojan, with its evolving capability to steal financial information and execute unauthorized fund transfers, has caused massive damage to e-commerce users on infected PCs with a fake enrollment screen.

AOS, online END POINT security service to prevent all security threats occurred throughout internet business, detects and blocks ZeuS and its hacking attempts and variations with 4 unique components. AOS blocks ID and password theft, HTML injection and screen capture by detecting activation of ZeuS. It also protects personal information from all possible paths of malware intrusion such as keyboards, PCs, web browsers and memory sticks. 'AOS' supports multiple web browsers including IE, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.

"Online banking & e-commerce is booming all around the world for its convenience and accessibility. On the other hand, security threats attacking the system vulnerability is also rapidly increasing", said Hongsun Kim, CEO of AhnLab. "AOS enables both e-commerce providers and users to retain safe online banking by providing specialized features and the expertise as a security provider for 15 years", he continued.

AhnLab will address AOS to the European banking security market with its proven track record of online banking security. World's well-known banks including Citibank (Korea), Standard Chartered First Bank(Korea), Citicorp Banamex(Mexico)-the largest bank of Latin America - and Banco Santander(Mexico), are currently using
AOS to protect their online banking system against malicious codes and to provide reliable service to their customers.

AhnLab will strengthen the cooperation with European partners including SQNetworks (http://www.sqnetworks.com) to drive focused marketing campaign to spread AOS over the European online banking market.
"The security of the online private account data is increasingly becoming a decision criterion for the online banking users when choosing a bank. Many banks use their PIN (Personal Identification Number)/TAN(TransAction Number) lists, mobile TAN or Smart Card. But because of increased level of multi-attacks, users might feel unsecure with the solutions in place", said Sher Khattak, Chief Technology Director of SQNetworks. "AOS, as a solid security solution and proven technology, and with its innovative multilayer protection, is used by millions of users for the last 10 years."

AhnLab Online Security
'AOS' consists of 'AOS Secure Browser', 'AOS Anti-key logger,' 'AOS Firewall,' and 'AOS Anti-virus/spyware'.

  • 'AOS Secure Browser' is the one of the world's first security browsers developed in 2008 by AhnLab, to prevent the high-risk memory hacking by using a separate secure browser only for online transactions. It also protects a variety of dedicated banking or HTS (Home Trading System) programs. The latest version supports anti-screen captures and XSS blocking features to enhance security levels.

  • 'AOS Anti-key logger' protects critical personal information - password, account number, credit card number, residence number, etc. - entered through keyboard. With AhnLab's patented 'Key Logging Prevention Method using Keyboard Data Authentication[10-0734145]' and USB keyboard security function, it provides perfect security from PS/2 port using patented non-periodic random key transfer.

  • 'AOS Firewall' is an online PC firewall to protect users from variable security threats. It protects individual users from various security threats, and it detects/blocks unauthorized intrusion and external hacking attempts to prevent the leakage of private information and data damage.

  • 'AOS Anti-virus/spyware' is an online antivirus program developed by AhnLab's technology and know-how for over 20 years. You can scan and repair virus and spyware on any computer connected to Internet without an additional antivirus program installed.
